God, not the genie of our lives

Sigh, I don't want to be "emo"...wait does this comment count?

God does not grant all of our desires

"I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.  This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.  And if we know that he hears us - what ever we ask - we know that we have what we ask of him"
1 John 5:13-15

Fortunately God has allowed me to realize the reality of this, currently and during the past month.  We can see in 1 John 5:13-15 that their are stipulations to which God will grant what we desire.  In the deepest of our hearts one must: believe in the Gospel of Christ, believe in God, know God, know God's will (in our lives and the church), and have that line of communication with God called prayer.  It is only when these things are certain where one can ask and receive ones desire as it is aligned with the desires of God.

The good and the bad feelings of the month past in no particular order: desire, heartache, happiness, jealousy, joy, anxiety, confusion ...some unmeritted and others meritted.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
2 Corinthians 12:9-10

I cannot rely on myself but only that of God. Christ must increase and I must decrease.

Bumper Sticker

I saw a funny bumper sticker today on my way to work.  It said,

"I believe in fire breathing dragons, good men, and other mythical creatures."

...hahaha.

Reflection

Am I glad and appreciative that God had given me another day, another opportunity to show His glory through my life?  Do I actively seize those days and opportunities?

A question for you to reflect on: "How do you glorify God in your daily life, not just on a Sunday?"
