Project 240SX - Street Racers and Cheers

Last night some lame guy in a old school civic wanted to race me on the highway.  It was a little annoying that he was pacing me on the lane to my left especially when my lane was going to merge into his.  So, I accelerated to get ahead of him but he accelerated past me because he thought we were racing. LAME.   Later I shifted to the far left of the highway and cruised at speed with everyone else.  The guy started pacing me again on my right this time.  So, I just slowed down to 60 mph and likewise he slowed down.  Another minute went by and I slowed down to 55 mph.  He still slowed down, haha.  I eventually switched to his lane behind him and then over to the most left lane.  He still followed me.  2 minutes later he got fed up and sped away.

Next time something like that happens and the guy keeps pacing me I'm going to rev my engine like I'm going to race and let him speed away, hahaha.

On my way to work this morning I got a hearty cheer from someone else in a 240SX while I was waiting at an intersection =)  That was pretty funny because for some reason I felt like there was some level of comrade even though the other person is a total stranger.

Project 240sx - Entry 12 - LS1 Corvette Engine Swap ...Aborted

I was thinking of doing a LS1 Corvette engine swap into the 240sx some time in the near future, but it looks like that will be quite difficult.

In order to legally swap in an engine which does not come as an option in the original car all emissions system components must be included in their original configuration and position as well as unaltered.  Three major issues in a LS1 swap are evident.

1.  The exhaust manifold will interfere with the steering column
2.  Original fuel cell (gas tank) from Corvette must be used.  This may prove to be difficult to retrofit in to the 240sx
3.  Stock intake tubing and box may not fit properly and cannot be modified in any way.

I'm sad to say that I won't be doing this swap.  At least I didn't drop 4-6Gs before finding this out.  Prior research is a must!

Now that I will not be doing a swap and there are no street legal turbos for the 240sx I will instead focus my attention towards reducing body weight as well as rotational mass (ie. wheel and rim weight).  I will probably tune the ECU setup as well to try to achieve maximum performance.

Project 240sx - Entry 11 - I think I'm going to be sick

Okay...I took the 240sx to work today.  I didn't realize how bumpy/rough the suspension is.  I'm not to good with motion sickness.  Man, that car is rough.  I feel a little nauseous from the drive back from work.  Going to drive the Civic Si to small group tonight instead.

...I don't know if I can eat dinner.

Project 240sx - Entry 10 - Wheel studs and Cylinder 1 fixed

Just finished installing 6 new wheel studs about a day or so ago.

New wheel studs are so pretty!

Also, more importantly, I fixed cylinder 1 as it was not running.  It turns out that the ignition coil was dying.  In the end I replaced the distributor rotor and cap and the ignition coil.

On a separate note, I may have a goal change with this project car.  I may change my choice of engine swap. Maybe a LS1 with T56 transmission???  What do you think? (LS1 = Corvette engine)

Project 240sx - Entry 9 - Wheel Stud Stripping *gasp*

I don't know if non-standard wheel studs were used in my hubs or because the studs were old. But several of my studs were stripped.  I even stripped the stud on the spacer that I have.

I just keep breaking things, sigh.
